Cast iron HT250

Iron GB HT250 is widely used in lost foam casting and sand casting processes.

1)Chemical components

C:3.16～3.30 Si:1.79～1.93, Mn:0.89～1.04,S:0.094～0.125, P:0.120～0.170

3)Usage Speciality

*Products made in such cast iron HT250 are with higher strength, wear resistance and heat resistance .

*Vibration damping characteristic of castings made in such cast iron are good. 

*The castability of such cast iron is much better. So, grey cast iron HT250 are widely used for casting.

4)Application 

Such cast iron is used widely for casting products with higher strength and corrosion resistance requirements. Products, such as pump shells, containers, flanges, covers, machine bodies, cylinders, gears, etc.

To meet special requirements, some products cast in cast iron HT250 required to be heat treated. After hardening, surface of cast iron castings can reach HRC60. Bu grey iron, such as this cast iron HT250, HT200 are widely used with only annealed, or normalized situation. If section of surface required to be hardening, we can heat treat the cast parts with high or mid. induction hardening process. Mid. induction hardening can help to reach a 3mm to 5mm layer, hardness can reach HRC50, and castings will only distorted slightly. High induction hardening can help the surface to reach a 1mm - 2mm hard layer, hardness is above HRC50. But if the heat treating temperature is between 900-1000°, the surface hardness can reach HRC60.
